Later, George Gabriel Stokes, an Irish mathematician and physicist, refined Navier's equations and derived what we now recognize as the Navier-Stokes equations in the mid-19th century. Stokes' contributions included incorporating the effects of viscosity more accurately and deriving the equations in their vector form.
