Good News: The Camuy Caves are reopening next Wednesday March 24, 2021.
The caves were closed to the general public 3.5 years ago after Hurricane Maria but as of March 24, 2021 the Camuy Caves National Park will once again be open to the public.
As we are still in COVID-19 times, special protocols will be in place for those visiting the Camuy Caves. Reservations are the only way to visit the caves which will be open Wednesday to Sundays. Currently reservations must be made by phone using one of the following; 787-898-3100, 787-898-3106 and 787-999-2200 from 8am to 4:30pm
In addition, as part of ongoing conservation efforts at the Camuy Caves there will ONLY be 6 tour groups per day consisting of up to 20 people in each group. Demand is likely to be high, so plan and book well ahead to get the best chance of a place in a group.
Located in northwestern Puerto Rico between Camuy, Hatillo, and Lares the Camuy Caves are one of the most popular attractions on the island. Discovered in 1958 the cave system includes over 10 miles of caverns and 220 caves.
The Camuy Caves National Park is just a small portion of the system but gives visitors an insight into how the Camuy River the third largest underground river in the world, created the system some 10 million years ago.
